How to Get a Police Clearance Certificate in Toronto Police Services(TPS)?

Procedure to get a PCC in Toronto

It is also known as Level 1 Check or Clearance Letter. It is an electronic document issued by the Toronto Police Service that shows an applicant does not have any criminal convictions in the RCMP’s National Repository of Criminal Records. On request, this document can be prepared in French or in print form.

A Criminal Record Check will provide the following information:

  • Criminal convictions (summary and/or indictable) from CPIC and/or local databases
  • Findings of guilt under the Youth Criminal Justice Act within the applicable disclosure period

Online

  • Two government-issued identification cards
  • A photograph and signature are required.
  • One must mention your whole name and birth date.
  • Forms of government-issued identity that are acceptable
  • Photo Identification: Driver’s Licence | Government Employment Card | Military Employment Card | Age of Majority Card | Canadian Citizenship Card | Indian Status Card | International Student Card | Passport | Permanent Resident Card | Firearms Acquisition Certificate | Ontario Photo Card | BYID Card (LCBO) | Canadian National Institute for the Blind Card |

How much is the payment fee?

  • The processing fee is CA $20.00, which can be paid by Visa or MasterCard.
  • The processing fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

What is the processing time?

  • 7 to 10 business days, but this may vary depending on traffic and time of year

  • To schedule an appointment to submit a Criminal Record Check or a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check, go to the TPS Information Access Appointment Booking application here. A Vulnerable Sector Check cannot be submitted in person without an appointment.

Location

  • Applications must be made in person at Toronto Police Headquarters, 40 College Street, Information Access Service Counter in the lobby. Please keep in mind that applications cannot be submitted at police stations.
