I reported the theft of five items of opal jewellery (valued $5,390) on police link (online ref no:6187973) I waited for over a week and then, on the advice of my home insurance company, RACQ, I rang Carseldine Police Station and was told that investigation is underway. Probably report sometime next week. I also told them that I had cctv installed but I had lost the instructions on how to operate it. I asked them to send people who knew how to operate CCTV. No one came so I went to Carseldine Police Station with all the paperwork that I had been given when I bought the jewellery - photos, description, receipt for the value of these.
I told the police that I kept my jewellery in my bedroom and the only people who went in there without my knowledge or escort were the the cleaners from my home care package. Consequently they were the only suspects. I gave the details of the company - All Good Care , Case Manager:Jialu 0490766578;
Cleaners: XuFen, Dannie (who possibly started after the theft), Haitao and Keli.
I also have had Downsizers working for me. They have completely examined every part of my house and they have not found any opal jewellery. They were prepared to testify to that.
Melody Lucas 'Changing Seasons' 0499195189 .
Two police women finally came - Constable Macdivitl who was put in charge of my case. They did not know how to operate the cctv. They told me to find a repairman and get him to write the instructions and show me how to put it onto a usb. It cost me $86 to do that. When I finally examined the playback, I discovered that it only had a very short life span and was no longer easily available. I have read that computer experts can retrieve any deleted information. So I rang Carseldine Police Station to speak to Constable Macdivitl only to be told that she had covid and was isolating and would not be back for at least a week. There was no possibility of another police officer taking over the case while she was away. When Constable Macdivitl came back to work she did ring me but I have neither seen her or heard from her since.
I rang my insurance company - RACQ - for the second time but they still had not received a police report. Consequently, again they advised me to call the police and ask that the report be sent to them.
I am legally disabled as a result of serious head injuries received in a motor car accident. (My neurologist, Dr Paul Sandstrom 32704571). I have found this entire situation totally distressing and combined with all the pressure that I am experiencing at the moment - downsizing, selling ,moving etc - I am in a high stress situation which is causing things like continual insomnia, depression, extreme fatigue etc.
I would have liked to have this entire situation resolved with the obvious suspects interviewed at the very least. One of the women who I actually asked about the missing opals, is no longer coming to the my house which makes me wonder why.
As far as I know, this has not even been attempted which is very disappointing. All I can do is request that you send a copy of your police report detailing anything that has been done in regard to this theft of $5,390 worth of my opal jewellery so I can, at the very least, complete my insurance claim.
Yours sincerely,
Lynelle Geraghty-Grimpel
